Minivate

Minivate is an annual event run by ASSK for all Guides and Senior Section members in Anglia Region and the location changes each time to allow everybody to have a chance to attend. The event has 3 main purposes:
- To let all participants know the opportunities available to them through guiding.
- To ask their opinions on issues ranging from communication in the organisation to how to celebrate the centenary.
- To have fun and meet new people.
Minivate counts as the Residential or Service in Guiding element 4 for the Queen's Guide Award.

Minivate was held this year at Heron's Lodge in Milton Keynes. Approximately 60 Senior Section members from across the Anglia Region attended the residential and camping weekend.
" On Friday night we had a go at old Brownie badges, including story teller, international, and first aid, then we had a campfire with marshmallows and dampers, although the fire was so hot we couldn't get near enough to toast the marshmallows! Saturday kicked off with a selection of Have Your Say sessions, including Let's Communicate, Go Green, Girls in the Lead, and Managing Perceptions. These sessions gave us a chance to have a say about topics that are prevalent in guiding today and get our thoughts across. After lunch we had the choice of shopping in Milton Keynes, Bowling or Tobogganing! We all then met up again for the first birthday party of ASSK? The theme was what we want to be when we grow up and we all dressed up and there was a Brownie, a Doctor, an Archaeologist, and many more! We played lots of party games and had an auction in aid of National Deaf Children's Society, one of the Changing the World charities. On Sunday there were sessions about Look Wider and the SS CD rom, and also a session about Queen's Guide, D of E, In4mers, and GOLD. Followed by a marketplace where we could look at what options are available to us and pick up information. It was a really great weekend where we had a chance to meet other like minded people from across the region and share our views on Guiding today."
