Anglia Region Trefoil House Party 2009
44 Trefoil members from Anglia Region have just returned from a 5 day holiday break at Broneirion. We had a great time and were very lucky with the weather as the sun shone brightly every day. Tuesday morning saw us invading the charity shops of Newtown for our Patrol challenge to find suitable outfits costing up to £7.50 for a fashion show that was to be held later during the evening. On Wednesday we visited the Corris Craft Centre where many of us took a trip through the dark underground tunnels of King Arthur's Labyrinth to face the dragon and hear the stories of days of old.

Later in the evening Barbara Hurford and Di Robinson again devised an Eggstravaganza evening where our patrols pitted their wits against one another to complete a variety of tasks including making a devise to launch a decorated egg safely from a first floor window and to land safely without breaking. A task that the Harp Patrol won with flying colours.
On Thursday we were all up bright and early to go on a visit to Shrewsbury and the National Trust house in Attingham Park and in the evening we listened and joined in with the excellent Ruth Moore who entertained us with songs and monalogues of times gone by.
During the week we were very pleased to welcome Margaret Routley our new National Trefoil Chairman, Ann Hughes the Welsh Region Trefoil Chairman and the Chief Commissioner of Girlguiding for Wales who all joined in with the craft and puzzle ac
tivities that we were doing during the week.
One of our challenges for the week was to knit as many tiny hats for the Sainbury Smoothy Drink charity promotion and we managed to produce over 100 which was great.
Amongst our Trefoil members staying at Broneirion we were pleased to welcome Liddy Fentiman who came from Holland and had never been a Guide in the past. Also we welcomed Marie Helen Horne and Yvonne Lowrie, two American ladies from Texas, who were members of WAGGS and the Olave Baden Powell Society and had been staying with our Region Treasurer Annette Bond. When they heard we were going to Broneirion they wanted to join us too. During the week Yvonne told us all about the work of the Olave Baden Powell Society while Marie Helen told us about the custom of taking home some ash from a campfire to pass on to the next campfire that we would attend and gave us all a scarf and a Texas dime to remember them by.
Then, on a bright Friday morning, clutching our suitcases and little bags of campfire ash, we all said goodbye to Broneirion and vowed to meet again next year at our 2010 House Party in Lorne.
