Essex West County Launch Party
Essex West held its County Executive Launch Party at the weekend with Anglia Chief Commissioner Rosie Spencer attending on the first of her 12 county Regional tour for the Centenary. The weekend began on Saturday evening at the Grangewaters Outdoor Centre in Thurrock West where they held a BBQ followed by a two hour session playing Guiding Monopoly with County Commissioner Linda Taylor and Senior Section members - Rosie won!

Sunday morning - after a hearty full English breakfast - there was a variety of team building challenges and Rosie is pictured with Division Commissioner Karen Judge, CC Linda Taylor and county Centenary Champion Margaret Henderson crossing a 'swamp' on milk crates - nobody was eaten by the alligators! Rosie was then bang on target as she was challenged to burst a balloon at the archery range.

The real fun began on Sunday afternoon when Rosie, CC Linday Taylor and Centenary Champions Linda Harris and Margaret Henderson were collected from the County Office and driven to the party venue in a 1905 De Dion Buton. Owner Bernard Holmes was the driver and no sooner had the group arrived at Barnards Farm, Bulphan, Rosie was whisked away to fly a Cesna light aircraft!

Once on the ground, she was a passenger in a 1920's motorcycle and sidecar. Other challenges included crank starting a vintage car then driving a Model T Ford. Things were a little more sedate as she took afternoon tea and cakes with members of the county exec and Trefoil members where everyone received a commemorative boxed wooden pen as a souvenier of the Centenary.
