Improving Access to Guiding Project
Girlguiding Anglia is taking part in an exciting pilot project in partnership with Girlguiding and Pears Foundation. Focused in Girlguiding Essex West, the project - Improving Access to Guiding - aims to change the way we bring new volunteers on board. We hope that through better joining processes we’ll get more people into guiding and give them a fantastic experience of volunteering with us. With more volunteers, we can offer more amazing opportunities to both adults and girls!
Our wonderful Girlguiding Essex West volunteers are working with a team at Girlguiding to develop and trial new models of supporting volunteers into roles.
The main goals are to:
- help new volunteers feel welcome
- offer practical and consistent inductions
- make training more accessible
- be creative and flexible in finding roles that reflect the skills and interests of volunteers.
Through strong collaboration between local volunteers and the project team, we're hoping not only to make the joining process smoother and faster for those entering guiding – but also simpler and more practical for those supporting them.
