How long have you been in Girlguiding?

Since I was 7 years old, when I started out as a Brownie, and I’ve been a part of it since. Even throughout university I was still doing my Duke of Edinburgh. During my time in Girlguiding, being a leader has been my favourite role.

Describe your journey into becoming the Inspire Coordinator

I was a trustee on the executive committee for three years and from there I was trying to find a role I could still do, when I could still be as involved in Girlguiding. I saw the Inspire Coordinator role advertised and thought I could do that – I was still in the age bracket for Inspire at the time. The role entails communicating with our county champions, finding opportunities for the young women involved in Inspire,  promoting those opportunities, attending events, and facilitating merchandise for the section.

Is there anything that stands out, any proud achievements?

As a leader, I took 16 girls to a service project in Ghana in 2018. The girls we took taught in the primary school in the mornings – English and general primary school teaching – and in the afternoons we plastered and painted the secondary school those students would feed into. We managed over two weeks give or take. It was an incredible opportunity that I just couldn’t turn down.

What do you enjoy the most in your role?

Finding people and letting them know what they can do as an Inspire member, letting young women know what is available to them through Girlguiding. We are always looking forward to welcoming more members.
