Alison Tompkinson

County Commissioner, Girlguiding Essex South East

My name is Alison and I have been County Commissioner for Essex South East since October 2017. I joined guiding as a Brownie and continued as a Guide and a Ranger. My favourite memory of being a Guide was using the camp clothes we had taken with us to create fancy dress costumes.

As an adult, I have enjoyed working with people from across the county and region including running Brownie Starburst, helping with a subcamp at Essex International Jamboree and attending Centenary celebrations in 2010. I have also been lucky enough to visit Sangam in India and Our Cabana in Mexico. As County Commissioner, I have enjoyed visiting some of our units and attending District and Division events and I am looking forward to visiting many others. I hope to grow the county and so give more girls the opportunity to experience Girlguiding.

Volunteers don’t get paid, not because they’re worthless, but because they’re priceless.
