Essex South East
Girlguiding Essex South East is geographically the smallest Girlguiding county in Anglia Region but this means we are a close-knit group of leaders who work together well to provide exciting opportunities for our young members. It was originally part of Essex East county which split in 1986 into 2 separate guiding counties and is now thriving with over 3500 young members. Our county one of the three Essex Guiding counties who along with Essex Scouts are responsible for the hugely successful Essex International Jamboree held every four years just outside Chelmsford. Attending the jamboree is just one of the many exciting activities that girls and young women from our county enjoy taking part in. We have several purpose-built residential centres which are regularly used for camps, holidays and day visits.
Visitors to Essex South East frequently visit the beaches in Southend as well as the world longest pleasure pier stretching 1.34 miles out into the River Thames. Those visitors who prefer a more rural setting visit the ruins of Hadleigh Castle which was originally built during the reign of Henry VII and Hadleigh Park which was home to the 2012 Olympic Mountain Bike events.
