What is peer education?
Peer educators are 14–25-year-olds who help Brownies, Guides and Rangers explore important topics, such as mental wellbeing and gender stereotypes. They use their own experience and training given to bring important subjects to life by running fun, safe and challenging sessions on a variety of topics. Peer education works because girls are more likely to relate to and listen to someone of a similar age to them. Peer educators empower girls to tackle issues and make a difference in their lives and the lives of people around them.

What are the different topics?
Safe the World – helps members make a stand for safety
Breaking Free – gives girls the tools to challenge gender stereotypes
Think Resilient – gives girls the tools to build their mental well-being
How does this work for leaders?

Become a peer educator
If you are aged 14-25 and interested in becoming a peer educator, initially you will need to complete the 'becoming a peer educator e-learning'.
At Anglia we aim to run 2 training weekends per year, this gives you the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge needed to be able to deliver sessions. These training weekends are also a fantastic way to meet other new peer educators! If you have already attended a weekend and want to learn a new topic – you are able to attend on the second day of the weekend to learn the new topic.

Uniform
As a peer educator you have the option to be able to wear your own uniform, or you can order a peer educator top.
Currently we ask for you to purchase yourself a blue t-shirt and the peer education badge and sew this on yourself while we wait for our brand refresh. This cost of this can be covered by your county through your county peer education coordinator.
Badges
For your unit – once a peer educator has attended your unit you are able to order the badges for your unit, please either order these via your local guiding store or online.
As a peer educator – you will earn badges depending on how many sessions have been run, once you have met the amount, please complete the required forms below then send it to your coordinator to sign off.
