Commissioner training opportunities
Date: September 29th 19:30 - September 29th 21:00
Do you want to develop your skills and knowledge as a commissioner? Look for training opportunities here.
Commissioners have an important role to play and we know it can be challenging at times and knowing where to find support can make all the difference. Other commissioners and trainers are full of helpful support and knowledge so this page is dedicated to signposting you to the training opportunities available. Most sessions are currently held virtually although some are returning face to face. You’ll have the chance to learn from and with other commissioners and hopefully be inspired.
You asked, we listened
Following the success of our commissioner induction sessions trial, we will be holding more. Commissioner induction sessions are for commissioners new to their role and can be attended in any order.
- Commissioner induction session 1, Tuesday 14 September, 7:30pm – 9pm
- Commissioner induction session 2, Wednesday 29 September, 7:30 – 9pm
The following sessions were initially offered at LEAP, our virtual training day for commissioners. They were very popular so we will be offering them as stand-alone training sessions suitable for commissioners new or established in their role.
- Rebuilding our District affected by COVID (both girls and leaders) – Wednesday 7 July, 7:30pm – 9pm
- GO for Commissioners – Tuesday 13 July, 7:30pm – 9pm
Still hungry for more opportunities?
Did you know Girlguiding offers training via the learning opportunities tab in GO? It’s worth sharing with members in your area as there is a wide range of subjects relevant to all roles. Commissioners might be interested in:
- Risking business for commissioners
- Growth: recruiting adults
- Doing our best
- Promoting guiding
Level 4 Safe Space
All commissioners and commissioner mentors require Safe Space Level 4. This needs renewing every five years so your role is likely to finish at this point. You’ll then only need to renew if you take on another commissioner role. Girlguiding will contact you if you require this Level of Safe Space and offer you a range of opportunities. If you’d like to contact them about this training, you can do so on email@example.com.
Region and county calendar
Finally, one further place to look for learning opportunities is in our region and county calendar. You’ll find it under member support or by clicking on the link. Not all opportunities are available outside of the organising county but if you see a session you like the sound of, click on the link to go to the event page for more information. You might be able to go on a waiting list or ask your county to deliver a similar session.
If you need support in your role as a commissioner, please do speak to your mentor or another commissioner. Any questions about training sessions can be directed to Events@girlguiding-anglia.org.uk and any other enquiries to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for all you do for Girlguiding and the difference you make to so many girls and young women’s lives.
