Kickstart to completing your module 4

A pair of engaging virtual sessions for existing assistant leaders who wish to work towards gaining the full Leadership qualification.

If you’re an assistant leader who has previously completed modules 1 to 3 of the Leadership qualification and would like to gain the full qualification. This online course of two, 90 minute sessions could be the kickstart you need!

A pair of engaging virtual sessions for existing assistant leaders who wish to work towards gaining the full Leadership qualification. You’ll need to be 18 years or older.

The aim of the session is to give assistant leaders the knowledge needed to go away and have a discussion with their mentor to complete all aspects of part 1 of module 4 of the Leadership Qualification.

Session 1, on Saturday 24 June 9:30am – 11am, will contain:

  • Data management
  • Why we keep records
  • How to record unit meeting activities and skills builders on GO
  • Where to access the budgeting webinar

Session 2 will run on the same day after a 30mins break – 11:30am – 1pm. It will contain:

  • Structure of guiding
  • How information can be communicated
  • Ideas for raising awareness
  • Our identity
  • Policies and code of conduct
  • Doing Our Best standards

The sessions are interactive and engaging. You’ll have plenty of time to raise questions. We’ve held three of these courses now so it is likely this will be the last one before the LQ finishes in September 2023. If you need any support completing your module 4 before this deadline, do speak to your mentor in the first instance, your commissioner or email

This course will be hosted on Zoom. Although we are not expecting any children, do think about your surroundings and what you are wearing or saying, as other people in other houses might be able to hear or see you. Guiding uniform or member’s wear is completely optional. Bookings are now open on Eventbrite via this link

If there is anything we can do to support you to attend, please discuss it with us by emailing

Who will my data be shared with?

Please note that this is a joint training with both Girlguiding Anglia and Girlguiding South West England. Your booking is with Anglia so read our privacy policy for information on how your data will be shared.

Does this complete my Leadership qualification?

This course is for people that have already completed their Leadership qualification with modules 1-3 but would like to add module 4. You will not complete the module by attending these sessions. However you will have the knowledge to discuss this with your mentor to get the clauses signed off.

What happens if I don’t have a book or mentor?

Don’t worry if you don’t have a book or a mentor, you can still attend the sessions to help improve your knowledge, download module 4 here and speak to your commissioner about adding this module in the near future.

Will I lose my role as an assistant leader if I don’t do this now?

No, after September 2023, you can remain as an assistant leader if that suits you.

Will there be other options in the future?

Girlguiding have suggested that after September 2023, there will be a way for assistant leaders to add to their qualification to become full leaders if they wish. We don’t know much about this at the moment but one option would be to complete the new leader development programme (LDP) on the learning platform.

Is this the only way to become a full leader?

No this is just one way to support you in completing module 4 of the Leadership qualification. You can also download the module and work through it with a commissioner or mentor or complete the full leader development programme via the route for existing members.
