Wendy Ireland

County commissioner, Lincolnshire South

How long have you been in Girlguiding?

I have been a leader for 16 years.

Describe your journey to being a county commissioner:

I started as a Brownie leader and have been in charge of a Brownie unit for about 10 years and then I became a district commissioner, next I was a division commissioner and then finally I became county commissioner in April 2021. I was appointed by Tracey Foster, Chief Commissioner.

Anything that stands out, proud achievements

I am looking forward to the challenges, supporting units to reopen, post pandemic. Supporting leaders and girls and recruiting new members. We are planning lots of exciting things, so by the end of the year hopefully we will have a lot to look forward to.

What do you enjoy the most in your role?

Supporting others and being given the opportunity to meet others. The best thing about this role, is being able to develop my skills and use them to support other people in different ways.

What do you enjoy the most about representing your county

Being proud of my county and being able to promote that within Girlguiding Anglia and country wide.
